This Braised duck rice can commonly be found in hawker centers all around Singapore.
It is a Singaporean Chinese dish, which made of either braised or roasted duck meat and plain white rice with a thick dark sauce.
Unlike other shop, “Chuan Kee” does not serve Braised duck with white (plain) rice. They enhanced the rice with many spices, garlic and mixed with duck braising liquid. The duck braising liquid gives it an extra flavors and punch. Rice was flavorful and darker than the usual yam rice. Duck meat was very tender and juicy. The herbal soup that comes with it is simply addictive and soothing.
Very affordable plate of duck rice with generous servings of duck meat. The prices starts from $2.50 a plate, But add 50 cents extra, the plate come with braised pea nuts, braised hard-boiled eggs , tofu slices, cucumber slices and bowl of herbal soup.
Comparing to many other braised duck stalls I had in “Chuan Kee” Braised duck is arguably one of the decent and I would say exceptionally good! .This is one of the best Braised duck shop in Singapore.
